If for P&P papers
P&P papers are subject to the same data and code availability policy as any other AEA journal, but they are only superficially checked. They do need to be complete, and when we are notified about deficient packages, we investigate and where necessary, follow up with authors.
If for other papers
All articles published in an AEA journal are subject to our data and code availability policy. When we are notified about deficient packages, we investigate and where necessary, follow up with authors.
For both types of papers
To report a deficient replication package, please use one of the two standard reporting mechanisms (both are listed here)
- anonymously at https://www.aeaweb.org/contact
- not anonymously at https://github.com/AEADataEditor/aeadataeditor.github.io/issues/new?template=missing.yml
In both cases, identify (with their DOI)
- the manuscript
- the replication package
No special circumstances are necessary to use these mechanisms - they are to be used whether it is a single file missing, or when issues are found with the content of data files.
