20_commit_code.sh - Commit the deposit or other files

Description¶

Commits a path to the repository.

1. If generated/dot-gitignore (from 01_check_file_sizes.sh) differs from .gitignore, copies it over .gitignore and commits it first, so large files are excluded.

2. Adds and commits the given path. The commit is logged to generated/git-commit.log.

3. Without a second argument, the commit message is “Adding code from ” and the commit gets an annotated tag update<N>, where N is one more than the highest existing update tag.

Usage¶

./automations/20_commit_code.sh <path> [run|notag]

• path - What to commit, usually the deposit directory or config.yml.

• run - Commit message “Attempted run ”, no tag. Used after running author code.

• Any other second argument (the pipelines use notag) - Commit without a tag.

Environment Variables¶

• SkipProcessing - When yes, the script exits immediately.

• jiraticket - When set, commit messages start with <jiraticket> #comment [skip ci]; otherwise with [skip ci].
